Meet the team
Lizbeth Mateo was born in Santiago Matatlan, Oaxaca, Mexico. The first in her family to graduate from college, Lizbeth earned her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2016 and got sworn in as an attorney in June 2017.
Even though Lizbeth met the requirements for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, the Obama Administration denied Lizbeth’s DACA application in 2017. Despite this setback, Lizbeth decided to open her own law practice in February 2018, where she assists members of our community with their immigration and workers compensation cases. As an immigration attorney, Lizbeth has helped undocumented youth renew their DACA work permits, represented detained immigrants, asylum seekers, immigrants living in sanctuary, as well as those seeking to become legal permanent residents and citizens.
Besides being an attorney, Lizbeth has also been an immigrant rights organizer for over 15 years.

Lizbeth Mateo nació en Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca, México. La primera en su familia en graduarse de la universidad, Lizbeth obtuvo su Doctorado en Jurisprudencia de la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Santa Clara en 2016 y SE juramento como abogada en junio de 2017.
Aun cuando Lizbeth cumple con los requisitos para el programa de Acción (DACA), la Administración Obama le negó DACA en el 2017. A pesar de esta adversidad, Lizbeth decidió abrir su propia oficina legal en febrero de 2018, donde ayuda a los miembros de nuestra comunidad con sus casos de inmigración y compensación laboral. Como abogada de inmigración, Lizbeth ha ayudado a jóvenes indocumentados a renovar sus permisos de trabajo DACA, ha representado a inmigrantes detenidos, solicitantes de asilo, inmigrantes que viven en santuario, así como a aquellos que buscan convertirse en ciudadanos y residentes permanentes.
Además de ser abogada, Lizbeth también ha sido organizadora de los derechos de los inmigrantes durante más de 15 años.
